Dion first heard sounds coming from the attic about a month ago, but no one believed her, in fact we made fun of her for it. About 3 weeks ago I heard it one morning and I was like, "What is that?". She calmly replied, "That's the noise I told you about a long time ago you @#%#$!!!" We have looked up in the attic and have found no droppings, no sign of animal infestation; I have left cat food out in the garage overnight, and it was untouched the next day. As I write this post I can hear the "monster" doing its growling thing. Could it be a racoon, opossum, giant grasshopper, or chupacabra???
The picture above is Sam and Fabe looking for the beast after it got really loud one morning 2 weeks ago. Click on it for a recording of the mysterious noises.
Dude,
What IS that?
I've dealt with mice, possums, cats having sex... whatever you have it sure as hell doesn't sound like anything I've ever dealt with.
It's so danged loud too! how do y'all deal with that?
Posted by: Dan at October 13, 2004 03:51 PMIt always occurs between 8am and 11am every morning, so we're not home most of the time.
Posted by: nick at October 13, 2004 08:02 PMSometimes I'm home, and the little bastard always wakes me up. I really hate that thing. My dad tried convincing me it's just the wind even though he heard the monster himself. What you hear in the recording isn't even as loud as it usually gets.
Posted by: Dion at October 14, 2004 09:08 AMThe cat food was untouched? Dont you have a cat in the garage?
Are you sure its not just branches brushing against the roof?
Are you two eating enough? Or perhaps too much? I think you have to consider the possibility that the noise is coming from your bellies.
Posted by: Andrew at October 16, 2004 09:06 PMThe cat got killed a couple weeks ago, it crawled up into an engine. There are no branches near the spot, did you actually hear the recording Mike?
Posted by: nick at October 17, 2004 10:04 AMIt sounds like the rutting grunt of the South Texas species of Motherinlawamuss-Fatherinlawamus.
Posted by: Livermore, CA Crew at October 17, 2004 01:35 PMwell shit. good luck finding the little bugger. I'm pretty sure it's not the wind (can't think of anyway wind can make a sound like that) but I'm neither wise nor an expert on the matter.
sorry to hear about the cat. sounds like a pretty gruesome way to go.
Posted by: Dan at October 18, 2004 02:57 AMI have something to tell you! It was me!!!Ha ha ha! I hide in yalls attick everyday between 8am and 11am. I actually dropped out of school to do this, it was so damn fun! Suckers! gggrrr! grrrrr!
Posted by: Megan at October 18, 2004 11:35 PMsee i spelled attic wrong, just proof that i did drop out of school!
Posted by: Megan at October 18, 2004 11:36 PMI always suspected you, Megan! Sometimes when I was up close to the roof listening for the monster, I would say that something smelled like skank. I should've known all along! Ha!
Posted by: Dion at October 19, 2004 11:29 AMI'm not sure how the seasons run in California, but I think that species (inlawamusses) has gone into hibernation by now.
Posted by: Nick at October 21, 2004 07:16 PMYeah, I'm pretty sure it's one of the "bad things." ::The Village:: I'd be careful if I were you...
~cue the suspensful music~
